Those deep dark-fruited notes and an element of controlled power, often regarded as the hallmarks of good Primitivo, are here in droves. Rich, with rounded tannins and textures, bundles of spice – think clove, cinnamon as well as a crunch of black pepper – and scores of blackberries and cassis. It’s definitely one to enjoy with food – char-grilled vegetables work well, as would most roasted or grilled meats.
